Help raise funds for the acquisition of land that is critical as wildlife habitat. That's the goal of Pheasants Forever's Build a Wildlife Area program.
The South Dakota Build a Wildlife campaign has already generated tremendous support.
Woody Brehm, an avid South Dakota pheasant hunter from California, stepped forward with the first individual gift to the campaign. And, the Brookings Chapter of Pheasants Forever has joined the effort with a generous $5,000 contribution.
Through a unique funding mechanism, the Build a Wildlife Area program puts 100 percent of the funds raised directly toward land acquisitions utilizing state, federal and other grants. It's been Pheasants Forever's pledge from the beginning to see that every dollar of your donation is multiplied x3 through matching grants that Pheasants Forever has in place with state natural resource agencies, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and other partners. In other words, your $25 donation is worth $75 and your $10,000 donation is worth $30,000 for the Build a Wildlife Area campaign.
Statewide Build a Wildlife Area campaigns in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois and Ohio have helped create over 17 project areas totaling over 4,300 acres of new wildlife areas, all open to public hunting and outdoor recreation.
